Default 06 fatboy

Time to replace tires. I know this isn't the right section, but I posted in the right section almost two weeks ago, got a million views and no replies. Maybe i'll do better here.

I'm looking to replace both tires. I'm looking for a make and size.

I really like the twisties and really get into them, so a good handling tire is more important than how long it lasts, but I don't want to be replacing tires every couples months. lol

Also, I heard someone say you can run a 160 of some tire with the stock fender? Any truth to this? Also does lowering the bike change this cause a 2 inch drop is in the future.

I looked on Jakewilson.com, found a pair of dunlop402's for 190 shipped when I typed in 06 fatboy, any good?

Thanks alot guys,
Kevin

Just installed 18" wheels, had 16" spokes just like you. 18" ride and handle much better. Not that you want to replace your wheels, just an fyi...

Have a Metz 140/60-18 in front and a Dunlop Roadsmart 160/60-18 radial rear. Really like the way it feels, especially in the turns. Time will tell how long the Roadsmart will last. As long as your fender is centered, clearance should not be a concern. If you have ez brackets, I cut 1/4" off the center strut bolt just to be safe and add a little more clearance. Im tempted to put a 170 next tire change. Anyway, the price for those Dunlops seems very good. Bought my Dunlop from Jake Wilson, 2n1 pipe also. Google Jake Wilson, I found a $20 off coupon when you spend $150 or more.

If you ride the twisties a lot you will much prefer a more expensive stickier tire like a Metzler or Avon. You CAN put a 160 the rear on your ride. Lowering the bike will not affect any 16" tire you can put on the rear.

I have an 06 Fatboy too. I put on avons, they are night and day compared to a dunlop. I am not saying avon is the best but better than the dunlop.

I just put metzelers on my 06 fatboy before Daytona. I have about 2k miles on them now and love them. Jake wilson had the best price. The bike rides like it's on rails now.

Make sure you have a local shop that will mount them for you. That is, if you cannot mount them yourself. I would also want to make sure I was not getting second or an old stock tire.

Some tires I was looking at.

Avon rear.
http://www.jakewilson.com/productDet...#vehicleSelect
Avon front.

Metzeler.
Rear
http://www.jakewilson.com/productDet...#vehicleSelect
Front
http://www.jakewilson.com/productDet...#vehicleSelect

How's either of those pairs? I think i'm going to stick with stock size till I upgrade rims, which is 150/80 and 130/90? I know that's what's on the rear, but the back just says mt90R16, I was guessing it's 130 from filters on jakewilson.

Any suggestions on specific tires in appreciated.

Thanks guys.

I think I would of gone with venoms on the front and rear. you should do a search on here for avons and metzelers. I am no where near a tire expert.

I have Avon Cobras on mine, huge change over the Dunlops. I hear they wear faster but the way they feel I don't care
