I don't have the big shot shorts, but I do have the shortshots. I believe they are a slightly smaller diameter (1 3/4) as opposed to the 2" big shots.
Mine are LOOOOUUUUD!!! Not as deep as the SEII's I used to have, but easily twice as loud. They kind of have a drag pipe sound. Sort of a (pop, pop, pop).
EDIT-Oh, yeah. Mine have the baffles in them. I won't run straight pipes. Lose too much power.
I just got the Big Shots put on my 05 Night Train and they are loud. Baffles are in and have no need to take them out. I got the SE A/C Kit at the same time and re-jetted. Let me just say I had SE Slipons installed on my 03 Sportster and the Big Shots are alot louder. You can easily crack the throttle and set off car alarms, I couldnt do that with my SE's
HD is trying to get us all to lighten up on loud pipes. We are pushing our sport to the limit with too much noise. I have staight shots on my Softail WITH the baffles in and my wife says she does not like to ride behind me. No baffles and drag pipes are a very big waste of low to midrange power. I had a VRod pull up along side me in my truck with some type of drag pipes and I wanted to yell at him to calm it down. Sounded like crap and very very loud. Made him look bad in my opinion.
