Default Dumbass Attack

Installing a windshield bag on my 06 Softail Standard, and one turn of the nut too many. CRAP! Is it possible to buy just the lexan and re-use the hardware? Have to think that would save over the big bucks I see a full windshield going for. If so, where to look? Any help much appreciated, I am new at this, obviously.

Loads of options. First look up "windshields" on the Harley web site. Then there's CeeBailey's, who make great custom windshields and many others. In fact, just Google "Harley windshields" and be amazed. Expect that one turn of the wrench too many to cost you around $120-$150.

lots of options. hardware is definitely re-usable. you can get just the shield with pre-drilled holes from clearviewshields.com as well as many other places, i'm sure.
on another note, if you're really worried about screws coming loose, use a couple of drops of blue loctite instead of over-wrenching.

My windshield was hazed so bad I couldn't see at night because of the headlight glare or if riding into the setting sun. The HD catalog didn't show the standard height windshield by itself, but I went to the HD store and the parts lady broke down the assembly numbers and got me just the lexan. Came with new mounting strips too. Don't remember the cost but nothing is cheap at the HD store.
