Looking to put on windshield pouch, but screws to short. Anybody have the same problem or do I just need to push the fairing until it catches with some help. Also, looking to upgrade windsheild, current one right in my vision. Do you like looking over or thru?
Thanks
Make sure the windshield is in the slots. That would make it kick out enough to make screws to short. I just installed the 3 bag on my 08UC and used the same screws. Get a Fastair windshield. He has them in different heights and tints and they are cheap enough that you can try a few before you spend they big dollars on one that you might not like. I was going to do that but love the first 1 enough to keep it for a while. 9" dark tint Fastair. I like to look over.
The trick i found that worked for me was not to take the screws out all the way. I believe i recall sliding the pouch in from the side then tightening it all down, or at least i tried this and it failed. This was too long ago, and to many beers, the last two brain cells fighting it out to see who will be declared a winner. This was forthe 3 pouch system.
As for the windshield do the same thing, this i know works, when swapping in or out. I agree with captjon37 if the windshield is not in the slots right it could give ya probs.
I used same screws with 3 pouch from J&M. I like to look OVER the windshield for sure. If you get caught in a misty rain or fog you'll know why really quickly! You're totally blinded.
Ilike the top of my windshield to be at about the level of my mouth or nose when seated on the bike. I find this gives me enough wind protection and I can see the road out in front of the bike to within about 30 feet of the front tire.
I put the single pouch on my 08 EG. I loosened all three screws and worked the tab into place. The pouch had to be flexed/forced a little to get the tab all the way down around the screw.
To be safe, you want to look over your windshield. Eventually you will drive in conditions that instantly fog or frost over your windshield.
I cut my windshield down by ~1.5" to get that top edge out of my field of vision.
Get the HD pouch. I got the cheaper triple pouchon ebay and it sucked. That's the one with the 1/8" thick leather sh*t that's a pain to slide in. I cut the two end pouches off and mounted the one in the middle. Still doesn't fit right.
I went out and bought the HD pouch and will mount it when my clearview windshield comes in.
I've got the same bag. When I got it and installed, it was too tall and the pouch drooped over the dash. So I trimmed the tab section down to where the bag is just sitting on top of the panel. It still has a very slight droop so I may have to trim it down just a tad more. I'll try and post some pictures later.
