Default 'Car' oil coolers

Hey all, I have been checking round on Ebay and it would seem the smaller oil coolers made for cars are cheaper than those specifically made for bikes (ESPECIALLY those for HD's, go figure) has anyone used one with success? If so, what was it made for?

I don't see why you couldn't use one. But your going to have to do a little DIY plumbing to get it installed.
The biggest advantage with using something like the HD kit is that it will 'fit' properly, and being designed for the front of a bike its more efficient at shedding heat.
They also come with a thermostat that regulates the oil flow and shuts it off at temps below 185 degree's to keep the oil from over cooling. I don't believe that's a big problem anywhere north of Antarctica. But it does keep the oil out of the cooler until the engine warms up properly.
Coolers made for cars are designed to be mounted in front of the radiator where there is always going to be a 'breeze' if not from speed, then at least from the fan behind it.

In days of yore, power steering coolers were used.
