Deluxe handlebars!!!!!
I have an 09 deluxe and need to replace the stock handlebars. The longer I ride the more my wrists hurt from the bars being to narrow for me. I like the Heritage handlebars, but I don't want to purchase the bars and cable and etc, and find out that wider or taller bars are more comfortable. Can anyone tell me where to go online and make comparisons, and how to mok up handlebars to findout which position is the best for me and the bike. HELP PLEASE!!

I would go to a Indy or dealership and have someone hold up differant bars on your bike while you sit on it and see witch bars feel right..Its a tuff callbeing we are all differant and have differant ideas on how we want our rides to look, you can think one set of bars are great but then change out the seat only to find out that the bars you picked dont work well with the seat.Maybe you know or have friends that have riders with differant bar set-ups that will let you sit on thier bikes....
I ended up with 1" risers and 12" bars when I went with the C&C solo seat, its the best combo ever for me(2 neck surgerys and 1 shoulder surgery).....

Thanks for the information everyone... I went and stopped by Smaltz's Harley Davidson and they didn't have any bars to try. I want to have the bars come up higher, and wider. Can anyone give me advise about how real wide handlebars are for riding?? Ape hanger type and wide. I did get a chance to speak to someone who builds custom bikes, and advised me that the most comfortable position for riding is to old your arms straight out in front of you and then raise them 3". He reports that is the ideal riding position. At the time of talking to him I didn't ask how wide the bars should be.... Anyone???

my bars are wider and no need to change a thing other then the risers. The are cyclesmiths bars... I ran my wire internal as well.
Picked them up for 99 bucks from HCC on ebay and love them!!! I have been told you can go with bikini beach bars with the same wiring and cable as well. Just need new risers for both style bars. But if you want to got for the more mine ape look this might not be for you.

31 0r 32 ia plenty wide unless your 7' tall. I just bought an 06 road king custom and the 1st thing to go are the stock bars. They have an 11" pull back thats like rolling a wheel barrow. I havent riddin enough to know what would fit me best but I do know that I hate the stock bars I have. After reading 100 or so post, I'm going to the heritage bar this Friday. Part # 56569-86 in the 2010 HD parts book. I'ts a stainless steel bar, 31-1/4 wide, 11-1/2' base, 5" pull back, and 12" rise. $56.95 with abt 1-1/2 hour labor and should take stock cables and wires. I'ts inexpensive, easy, and everyone seems to agree that it's a heck of a cross the bord comfortable bar. The one I have is awfull. I figure after 10K or so in the saddle I will know exactly what bars will suit me best. Maybe this one. If not, no big $ lost.
