Calling all FatBoy Lo Owners
The street glide has air shocks on rear. Which is the selling point of the Street Glide that it's ride is smooth compared to a Softail with factory shocks. But
a set of shotgun shocks as 2012Fatso was mentioning would make a nice ride from what it looks like. Then maybe some bags and a new fairing with stereo/speakers. Then maybe just maybe a LoGlide is born in Idaho?
Would be a hella of a lot cheaper and I would not lose all I have invested so far.
Of course they are convincing at the dealer that the ride of a SG is amazing and is not comparable to a softail. The bad part is I don't think the ride is bad on a FBL but I have hit some cow grates out here in the country and man. Let's just say you can become airborn and no longer are touching the seat over those things. New air shocks would solve that.
Decisions Decisions.

I understand what it meant by highway sofa. The high seat position is a little weird to get used it, but you do get used to it quickly. You can certainly feel the weight difference going down the road, it just seems to float over imperfections in the road. It's surprisingly nimble and easily goes through corners with little effort. The radio is sweet, the cruise control is sweet, the TBW is sweet. The 103 isn't anything special. The vibrations from the 'A' motor is interesting. Not really annoying at idle since you don't spend much time just sitting still. My experience was there's a sweet spot around 3000-3100 rpm where it mostly goes away. On either side of that and you'll still feel the vibrations. I can see how that would get annoying after running a 'B' engine for so long.
Would I buy one? Yeah, but I'm not in a big hurry. It definitely evokes a different mood when riding. On the blacked out, ape hangin' Fat Boy you feel more visceral. On the FLHX I found my attitude being more relaxed, really enjoying the ride. For example, I wouldn't be in a hurry to put any bolt-ons on the Glide. I'd probably just throw some highway pegs on, and maybe some mini apes and call it good.

Another dimension...

Over the last week I have been fighting a rear brake issue. First the back story
Took the bike into my dealer (Good place, never had any issues) for the 10000 mile service. Also needed new tires and new rear brakes. Got the bike back and found no issues. Took it to Americade and had no problems. Fast forward to last week. I got off the bike and noticed a lot of heat coming from the rear brake rotor, way more than I had ever noticed before. I could not touch the rotor. Took the bike into the dealer, they checked it out, replaced a clip on the pad and we all thought it was good. Well, it wasn't, bike back to dealer for a couple of days where they checked everything out and replaced the caliper and the pads. When they test road the bike they took a second bike and did the same ride at the same time. Once back at the dealer they used a temperature gun to test the rotor temps of both bikes and the temp came out the same. Now the weather had gotten crappy and I have very little miles since this second round of repairs. I rode it about 30 miles to and from a bike night and it seemed to be hot again. Not nearly as hot as the first time, but still hot. The heat is only in the area of the rotor that the pads contact.
So here is my request. Could all you fellow Lo riders do me a favor and see how hot your rear brake rotor is after you ride. I am not looking for an exact temperature, just a description of the amount of heat. 1) To hot to touch, 2) hot but touchable, 3) warm to touch but can keep in contact, 4) not hot or warm at all.
Thanks all.... I have had good luck with my dealer, and they did not charge me for any of the work on this issues. (I didn't even have to ask, they just covered it). However, it just doesn't seem right to me that the rear brake should create heat with regular riding. Yes, I understand heat when the brakes are used, but not when just riding.
Appreciate any and all input. Thanks!!!!
As far as the rest of you go. Stay the heck out of the dealers. This thread is starting to seem more like a half way house for people waiting to jump ship and go over to the street glide/ touring side.
stay safe.

I'm thinking I'll have to used the frenched one.
Next, does the low windshield give you much buffeting? I've never found a Harley windshield I could see over that didn't buffet the crap out of me.
Thanks.
