Hello. I would like some feedback on installing a "Power Commander" that my shop said my 2010 Lo needs to stop running "lean", since the V&H pipes and K&N filter changes. Does anyone know about the features and benefits of a Power Commander on a 96 cu bike? They said it would make the bike run stronger and cooler by 25-30 degrees. Thanks.

I also have a Power Commander V, and when my bike was a 96", a proper tune with the PCV really changed the entire feel of the bike. It was quiet amazing, really. So yes, tuning your engine will make the bike run stronger.
As far as cooling the engine down.. I dont know whether the PCV will do that, especially 20-30*. If anything I'd try an oil cooler for that.
So..yeah.. I don't know your knowledge of engines and tuning and everything, so if this sounds rudes, my bad. There's essentially 3 parts to the power factor of your engine. Intake, Exhaust, and Fuel. When you put on an exhaust system, you increase the exhaust, when you put on an air cleaner, you increase the intake. For your engine to balance out, you also need to increase the fuel, else your engine is going to act dehydrated and choke a bit. Hense, "lean". So that's what the fuel tuner does, it tells the computer to spit more fuel in to the motor and balance it all back out.

I'd second you on all that info Jim. Nice and easy way of summing it up. I think the reason the dealor is suggesting switching to a tuner and running a richer tune to cool the engine is because fuel will act as a cooling agent. The Harley tunes run lean to comply with the government's emission regulations. Running a richer tune will cool the engine but not by 20-30 degrees.

I bought one of Jason's systems and couldn't be happier. I don't have a tuner yet so I can't provide you with exact precise results but the tests I have done with a thermal gun back up the info found on that thread. If you live where it gets hot in the summer its at least worth a look at.
