Sometimes the fun/miserable ratio of a job is effected proportionally by the quality of the tools.

Past Life I turned wrenches, current life IT pays me more.

Now, wrenching on the bike takes me to my Zen place, plus nobody touches the Lo but me!

If you are going to do something, do it right. Always have the right tool for the job.

Kills me to watch a noob (or a **** depending how you look at it) use water pump pliers to twist a bolt off.

I use to be the "guy", got tired of people wanting me to spend my time off fixing their junk. Gas, Grass or @$$, nobody rides for free!

Proper tool leeching etiquette is to bring your bike to their garage. You do the work yourself. If you want help, you bring a case of beer.

I prefer to pay someone else to do it really. I don't have the time. But, two routine services with the dealer: first, left me covered in grease and grease on half the cars on the interstate. Second time, they didn't drain oil, just filled it up to the brim.

A service is routine basic work. If you can't trust the "professionals" you do it yourself.

I spent my teenage years wrenching a 66 Camaro (yes there is such a thing, it was a very early 67) to have transportation. I don't want to bother with it anymore if I don't have to.

same here, been going to the same shop for 12 years. They play good music and i can sit and watch the work being done while just hanging out and talking to my friends. Most of the guys i ride with i have met in that shop.

It's amazing how many think just because you have it it should be free for them to use or they don't have to pay a fair price for you to do it for them. I have no problem letting someone use stuff especially specialty tools but there has to some back and forth with that person. Usually if my friends ask for something they are ready to do something in return, it's the friends of friends or the guy down at the bar that try to take advantage.

Because most people are a**holes. I'd charge them same rates as Harley without a guarantee or just forward them to an independent. I don't do jack for free or loan them my tools if I don't know them personally. I don't need their money, I don't give a damn about their broke stuff, and I have better things to do with my time.

Even those I do know you personally, your want your shiat fixed? You're going to be there with me doing it. One guy brings the tools, other guy brings the beer.

got the lights put on but when i got home i noticed one of the bulbs in the head light isn't on and when i turn on the high beam nothing changes. Since i'm not used to this type of headlight, i'm guessing it's in high beam and the low is out. When i get a chance next weekend i'll take it back so my buddy can look at it. hoping it's something simple. or it could be a bad light.
