Well it's been 2 months since I got my bike and I finally got home for a few days of crappy cold weather here in Wi. Had a bunch of parts waiting for me to install. I went out to the garage to fire up the heater so I could be comfortable and of course it took a dump on me. No matter I did all the work in 30-40 deg weather. First I did my grips, levers, shifters, pegs, the wife's back rest and tear drop tool box. Next was the new Rush Crossover full system pipes. First attempt at the the pipes yielded a Leak at the front port using SE gaskets. Back to the Stealership to get the regular exhaust gaskets. The regular tapered gaskets worked great, no leaks. Every thing done I put on my hoodie, jacket, gloves, face mask and long underwear and took at 30 mile ride in the 34 deg weather. The bike ran fine most of the time but had a bunch of decel popping and would sometimes hesitate and sputter around 2100 to 2300 rpm under light acceleration and steady throttle. I thought I had studied enough to know that just changing the pipes would be no problem with the ECM. Wrong! Slip on's would have been ok but the full pipes not such a good idea with out a fuel management system. Oh well live and learn. While I am gone for another 2 months I will order a stage 1 A/C and Power commander V from Fuelmoto and hope that it will help with the issues. I will be removing the reflectors and stickers later when it is warmer. Here are a couple of new pics.
I have a question to all you Lo owners: I will soon have the 16" apes on mine and I am wondering, what's the likelyhood of being able to make a 1400 mile trip in 2 days on this bike this summer? I plan on going from Virginia to Oklahoma. I have no windsheild, no backrest, and I am still running the stock floorboards and seat.
I am wondering this because, in reality, this is my first bike, I'm 23, and the longest trip I have really ever made on it was a short 45 minute trip to Williamsburg so I really have almost no experience with this. I thought about trailering the bike but that is pretty damn expensive and I am not sure if it would really be worth it. Yes, I am a newb, don't hate.

700 miles a day can be rough on any bike even a touring bike. But hey your young and your body can probably handle it. Have fun and be safe.

Start making longer rides to build up your endurance. I just did 150 miles yesterday with my 16" apes which was also my first ride with them and found it to be more comfortable than the stock bars. 130 of them were on i95.
Good luck dude, that's a lot of miles, but totally doable, just stop regularly to stretch your legs.

I've yet to take my new Lo on a really long trip... But I can tell you every bike is different..
My second street bike was a Suzuki Volusia.. 800cc I took it on many trips but never the kind of miles you're talking about.. that bike was HORRIBLE on trips... the seat was a bitch and the vibration from high rpms at interstate speeds made my hands go to sleep.. I literally HAD to stop every 45 minutes as my hand and a$$ would be killing me.. but I still took 200-300 mile one-way trips on it..
Next bike was a 1600cc Yamaha Roadie... night and day difference.. no high rpms on the interstate and the seat was better but not great.. I wound up replacing the stock seat with a Mustang seat and I could ride for hours without needing to stop..
On the Lo, the stock seat is ok.. but I still want to stop after about an hour and a half.. and I get some tingling in my right hand.. the stock bars feel like they are about 1-2 inches too far away... don't think I could do 700 miles/day on it.... but with a different seat/bars I think I could ride all day..

Look around for a cruise control on the internet. They make some that you can put over the throttle grip, some look safer than others. A buddy of mine had one on one of his bikes. Worked great, wasn't scary and man did it help stay comfortable for the longer trips. I went about 600 miles on it, and you can just lean back and cruise.
