Yes. I see it more as a safety and comfort issue. Highway pegs are a necessity for longer rides.

700 miles a day is a SHITLOAD IMO!!!!!

props if you do it, but after 150,200 i need to stop, get drunk and sleep.

another option (a friend of mine does this all the time) is get some side bags a tent and find some camping spots on the way.

I plan on going from Virginia to Oklahoma. I have no windsheild, no backrest, and I am still running the stock floorboards and seat.

I am wondering this because, in reality, this is my first bike, I'm 23, and the longest trip I have really ever made on it was a short 45 minute trip to Williamsburg so I really have almost no experience with this. I thought about trailering the bike but that is pretty damn expensive and I am not sure if it would really be worth it. Yes, I am a newb, don't hate.
It can be done. Average 700 miles a day. Going to be some long hours in the seat. But like someone stated earlier you're young and should be very little trouble for you. One thing though, I know a lot of people don't think that windshields are cool or look cool but I have a detachable one on mine and I will not head out on the road for a long trip without. Did a four day 1110 mile ride last weekend and had the windshield on the whole time. Personal choice but it will make the ride a lot more comfortable. Have a great ride and be safe. Take plenty of short breaks to strech and refoucus.

Captain,

It is very doable! I have to say that I wouldn't ride that hard without some more bells and whistles, but it's the perfect way for you to gain lots of experiance.

Since you are not in "rider shape" you may want to do some stretching a few days before you leave and during your trip or you will cramp up. That' about 12 hours of travel 1 way only stopping for gas and lunch.

You will gain more experiance on that one trip alone than you would just riding around town for a year.

Good luck and ride safe bro!

Oh!, have a good set of riding glasses with the foam on the inside rim for night/day if your riding without a shield.

Capt,

You ever think about a trailer from UHaul? I got one from San Antonio to Pensacola and it was only like $140 for an open one then when I moved to South Dakota I got an enclosed 5x8' for $311 IIRC.
