Thanks Mis and Jim! My first son is 19 months old and I can't figure out where the time has gone when I look at the two side by side...
Back to Lo related bizness...Did you guys see the threads about putting car tires on wide tire softails? Am I crazy for wanting to try that when my first time needs to be replaced? It's an older post but it just got revived... https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...ght-train.html
Thank you all for the help! You guys are awesome. I wish I knew as much about bikes and fixing them as all of you.
Must be nice.
I am really glad you are here to answer questions. I never know if what the dealer is telling me is the truth or not. Just like they told me I would definitely need new cables. I guess they were wrong.
Aaron - Can you snap a pic of your rear fender where the old license bracket was?
Wanna see what it looks like after relocating it.
You talking about me? Sorry I changed my sig around and not used to people calling me Aaron. Been DWB for awhile on all my forums lol. I'm supposed to get notifications when someone replies to this thread but it's not updating me like it should or I would stay on top of things. But if you needs pics, I'll get some this evening so check back tonight or tomorrow

Sorry dude we just have the same name. People call me A.J. though. Only my parents and the police call me Aaron.
Yeah I just wanna see the fender without the plate and with the plugs you put in.
I appreciate it man.
Let me know if there is anything I can do for you guys!
Here you go A.J. I don't remember what size they were but the bottom two are a tad larger hole but they're not perfectly round so a nylon plug wont work. I got these two at Ace Hardware. The top one is a nylon plug I got from Lowe's. I'm getting something made for the holes that should look sweet when it's done.
No I still have mine on there. I painted it flat black so I left it. I don't think there would be an issues with touching the belt. I did however take the leather straps off it and used 4 heavy duty zip ties to get that bitch on good and tight.
I did not replace anything. I did take off one of the front brake cable keepers (the one under the forks), and pulled and stretched stuff. I do not have ABS.
I actually rolled the clutch cable off of the handle bars (it was wrapped around it), looks more "normal" to me now. I was actually amazed at how much damn clutch cable was there. The thing that is pulled the tightest is the throttle cables, but they just make it at full turn, both ways.
I did not replace the bushings... didn't even cross my mind. Should I?
I would not say that you NEED to change out the riser bushings with only adding a 6 inch rise. It does take a little vibration out, the poly bushings really help for taller bars like 16 and 18 inch ape hangers, when you pull on those bars with stock bushings they will flex about an inch. I put the poly's on my bike. It really is a preference thing I would say, but I would say I do like it much better over stock bushings.
Think I am going to do something similar this weekend.
I have to look for different plugs though....I have the gloss black scoot.
One other question:
Did you remove your belt guards?
If so is it any issue with the swing arm bag?
I had mine mounted with and without my gaurds and had no issues either way. I do use the leather straps, but I made an extra hole in them to keep it tight. I don't run gaurds anymore, heres a pic.
