I'm having trouble deciding if I want to get a windshield or not. I dont like the looks of them but my buddy swears he won't ride without one and we are going on a 1600 mile trip next month. What say you? The farthest you would ride without one?
I rode for 10 years without a windshield. The whole time I had friends who were telling me about the joys of riding with one. I had a Buell and I wasn't about to do it to that bike ... This bike, on the other hand ... I rode it for an entire summer without one because I am a windshield hater. At the very end of last summer my parents bought me the H-D king size windshield for my birthday. I put the thing on and rode it a block and decided I was an idiot for not getting one sooner. It makes riding soooooo much more enjoyable. When I need the bike to look cool I still take it off, but if I am going to be riding at speeds over 45 mph or so ... I don't care how it looks.
OK, new guy here! Just got the Lo 2 days ago, a 2010 with a massive 452 miles on it. New to Harley's, but 45 or so years in the saddle. So, first impressions are these bikes are slooow, but in a good way! Just a different experience. I like visceral motors, my most recent bikes have them. Ducatis, Buells and Bemers; all twins. After years of extra-legal speeds, slowing down a bit is a good thing. Did 400 or so miles over the last 2 days, and my butt and back are sore, so I'm looking at Wild1 Chubbies and some kinda new seat. Haven't decided which way to go with the seat yet, maybe a Rich's or...? Sometime during the long cold winter here in North Idaho pipes and AC will morph, and bags may find their way onto the back. But during riding season, comfort is my primary concern. Have a LW swing arm bag coming in the mail to hold my liquor 'till I decide on larger bags. Also considering some bars, either the mustache or standards, so I can stretch out a bit. Lookin' for some opinions here. I'm thinkin' I wrote enough for a while, and the Jack is a little low, so headin' for a refill.
Like the bike. I've thought about the radius pipes but haven't made up my mind. Like the way they sound. I've riden all my life but this is my first HD (2011 Fatboy Lo). I've had allot of bikes but this one make me feel like I'm home. Can't get enough miles in, no matter how hard I try. Riding is the reason for breathin'!
Just got my new 2012 home today... Need a better camera now that I think about it, (I-touch camera leaves a lot to be desired.) Those reflectors are probably the 1st thing to go though. I do like the Derby cover it comes with, at least for the time being. I forget what the other standard covers were the last two years.. blank smoked chrome?? Anyway.. One hell of a ride!
