BTW, I put ISO grips on a couple weeks ago. Yep, I was one of those guys that got the clutch side stuck and spent 2 hours to get it off and re-glue. That was less than fun.
my friend, it took me 4 tries to get that thing on there.. first time it got stuck an inch up the bar, second time i got it on, but it wasn't rotated to where my fingers would be comfortable, third time i pushed it up too far, and the lever/switch housings wouldn't fit on the bars, and the fourth time i got it right.
That black widow glue i think is some prank by Kuryakyn..that crap is nasty.

I'm sure the legal department at Kury is responsible for that glue...
Alright.. the service manual says that the "clutch release cover" is just 6 bolts to remove. That's all i needed to know. I was calling it the Transmission Side Cover, but that's completely wrong. It's on page 6-6 of the service manual (i think 6-6, it's been 30 seconds since i've looked at it so i forgot the page number) but definitely chapter 6.
Point being.. 6 bolts. don't need to loosen the cable or anything because i'm not messing with the clutch. replace gasket, replace fluid if leaks occur. Word.

If you're not going to PC the cover, why are you taking it off? I didn't use a new gasket when I removed mine to change my clutch cable.

that's the part I WANT to powder coat.. and i'm one of those guys who is adamant about replacing gaskets on important pieces.. i'd rather pay $8 for a gasket, then not know the fluid is seeping out and have to pay hundreds later

well what the diddle. the service manual is confusing me then.. because it says "Remove the six screws that hold the clutch release cover in place. Remove the clutch release cover and discard the gasket." which makes me think that it's just sitting there. Well damnit to hell that's more annoying now. Okay i guess i'll do it anyways, it won't be until November or December.
Okay it still seems simple enough.. i'm having a hard time seeing lately which is why i didn't keep reading onwards. once the cover is off I can remove the snap ring and blah blah and unscrew the etc etc and make sure the ***** don't go rolling away. replace gasket.
Just bought my first and new 2012 Fatboy Lo. Curious about exhaust cause I am told that there is nothing out there yet.
a BLUE one! First that I've seen on this forum. Good buy.
From what I understand, any exhaust will mount to your bike just fine..the problems are with the O2 sensor plugs, that Harley went with a difference size plug for the 103" and 2012 models.. someone else correct that if it's wrong.
