Bacon, they are Mustang 13301. Couldn't be happier with them. Very nice, great quality bags worthy of the HD LO. I used easy brackets to mount them, but had to heavily rework the mounts to get the look I wanted.
HMMMM.. I keep batting the idea of putting some bags, on my Lo or not. those are some of the better looking bags I have seen on a Lo. I do a good bit of long distance riding. As long as I am alone, I can pack in a sissy bar bag, and have plenty room for over night or more. With the OL, forget it. she does alright, but that bag fills up quick. plus I end up with extra leathers and everything else, hanging off the bike all over the place...
where did you get the easy brackets from?
what kind of modifications did you need to do?
Elaborate on the heated grip install if you don't mind. that might be a mod I would be interested in.
I know this is an HD forum, and I'm lucky enough to own one.
I am also sure we all love motorcycles for how they make us feel, not just the make...
That said, I'm really digging this one.
Indian Dark Horse Chief.
What are your guys thoughts?
I'll be putting on my flame suit as soon as I hit - Submit Reply.
I don't know what to think about all the "Indian" bikes.
I have never been too fond of the long fenders. However, that darkhorse does make everything look alot better then the previous bikes I have seen. Still not my style.
I would like an old school original indian from the 30's or 40's for the nostalgia of it. but a new look alike just isn't the same.
and for $28K, it better come with a saddle bag full of Gold!
Added HD heated grips last night. A lot easier job than I imagined.
That's great. I recently wired in some of the HD heated gloves. Holy cow! What a difference those things make. I have been riding in the low 30s on my way to work in the morning and my hands are toasty and warm. You wouldn't believe what a difference just having warm hands does to the whole body feeling. That said, I like the gloves so much that I may get the jacket liner as well. The gloves plug right into the end of each sleeve and everything stays one piece.

I agree, it's a lot of mula for admission.
But in my eyes, it's one sexy *** ride.
I'll keep it on the back burner till I win the lottery.
I put 60K on my 03 Chief before buying my first HD a couple of months ago....
You WILL like the Indian. Buddy bought his Dark Horse from the dealer in North Dakota. Says that particular dealer is pretty sharp on the "stage 1" mods.....
While others don't like the fenders, I think the Chief is still the sexiest bike made....
:-)
Bacon, I'm not a fan of bags either, thats why I used removable brackets. Actually they were Edge brackets not Easy Brackets. Had to modify them so the bags set a little more forward to get the look I want. I will take some pictures this weekend and post next week. The brackets also come with a built in 5 degree rake out at the bottom which I think is more for the soft type bags. A little bending of the brackets took care of that. If I need the bags I can attach them in about 5 minutes. When they are not on the bike you go back to the dark, low, cool look the bike is supposed to have.
I also ordered a fairing from Reckless. It is also removable. It will mount on the stock Harley windshield hardware. My plan is, when I want to go cruising around town I can have the stock FB Lo look. For longer rides, or rides when it gets colder I can install the bags and fairing for a cruiser look. Once I get the fairing and get it installed I will post pics. I hope converting from bar hopper to cruiser will be about 15 minutes work.
As far as the heated grips go, the only hard part is tying in the wiring under the seat. The rest of the install was easy. Change out the throttle grip and the left grip. There is a wire that runs between through the handlebars. Very easy to do.
Wiring it in under the seat took a little more time, but if you buy HD brand heated grips, the step by step instructions are real easy to follow and are very detailed. Set aside maybe 3 or 4 hours to do the install.

I probably won't go the fairing route. I would love to see pictures of yours! but I need look into some bags, I was also thinking about the LeatherPro removable bags. I just gotta have time around work to do a lot of research and make a decision.
When I do have any free time.... I'm out riding! I live in Texas so there is no such thing as shutting it down for winter.
Bacon,
Here in good 'ol Toledo Ohio it's getting rather brisk at night. When it get's in the 20's and 30's and I see the bike and my Tahoe sitting next to each other, the choice is clear! If I were still in my 30's I'd probably ride. At 52 I make the sensible choice....

I am only 28, and I would make the same choice. I have driven on Ice exactly 1 time...... I was in my truck hit a sheet of ice on a bridge. I was being careful driving maybe 20mph, and still the truck spun around a couple times in the middle of the road. I lucked out. Truck came to a stop facing the original direction of travel, sitting perfectly still on the shoulder. You would swear i parked it there on purpose. Scared the Frick outta me... and convinced me to NEVER move north! LOL. (born and raised in Louisiana, been in Texas 18mos or so.)
That was Christmas morning of '04. Between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.....
