Sgt. Jim, glad to see that your bike is back together. Do you plan to dyno it soon after the test rides? It really doesn't matter now, does it? It probably has a lot more horse and torque than you ever need Well, when it is time for me to take a shot at the cam change, I definitely know who I'm going after for advice (and who to hide that from_my wife).
5000 miles service coming up soon. What does everyone use? I was thinking Amsoil but not sure which for which section. 20/50 all three? Has anyone used Amsoil and is it better then the syn3 at Harley?

I use Amsoil MC 20-50 in engine and primary and Red Line 58204 Heavy ShockProof Gear Oil in trans. The red line seems to quite up the trans and gives me smoother shifting. I also use the K&N KN-171B Harley Davidson High Performance Oil Filters.
I'm still using HD Syn3 in the engine, primary oil in the primary, and LucasOil 85W130 gear oil in the tranny.. $9/bottle, feels like it made the tranny shift a lot smoother
So with using the 20/50 Amsoil are you only changing your oil once a year as recommended by them? They say it's a 25000 mile oil? I am skeptical of that a little. I have never changed the oil myself and want to make sure that it is good oil I put in my baby.
They're crazy is they think you can get 25,000 miles from an oil change.. what is it blended with? Unicorn ****? I do my maintenance according to the owners manual, so 1k, 5k, 10k, etc..
lol Jim love the way you don't hold back on your thoughts. that is what I thought too. I feel more relaxed knowing that I followed the specs from the manual. I would assume that most HD riders change their on oil. I mean **** the price of their oil service is like WTF! It is not difficult to do nor does it take a real long time. But they charge A-lot! so yeah do it myself.
