Here's a new twist to the saga. I was riding home the other day with the Rush slip-ons and as I pulled in the driveway and got off the motorcycle there was a Police officer pulling up behind me. He said "Mayor, are those pipes legal?" (he was grinning) That's right, he said Mayor. I am the Mayor of the town I live in. It's about 25,000 people and I certainly don't want to set the precedent on what is an acceptable exhaust sound on a bike. We have a noise ordinance right now but it is not measured in decibels. We investigate complaints if it is disturbing the neighbors. We typically talk to the offenders and give them the opportunity to fix whatever the noise issue is. I don't believe in heavy handed government even at the local level. I certainly don't want my neighbors wondering if I am getting special treatment.
With that said I will probably go with Screamin Eagles and be satisfied with a little more rumble and hopefully no complaints.

easy fix, keep the rush and order some 1.5 baffles. they will still rumble but not loud and within federal epa guidelines. Dont let LEO bully you!

I have slip on Screamin Eagles on the RoadGlide. IMO these new SE Street Performance pipes fit the bill. They have good tone but aren't loud. I love them and wouldn't put anything else on my bike.

If my SE II's were any louder, I'd not only have concerned neighbors despite my chugging exits, but I'd worry a lot every time I had to go uphill past a cop. It's a good balance, and they really wake up if you crack it.
I thought the same thing for the Rush's I heard. They were nice, but I don't know what baffles she had.
