I have a question and a whole lot of concern. I was following my wife on her 02 Fatboy and noticed that her rear sprocket appeared to be not true or in other words wobbling. I had her pull over to check it out and everything tight and appeared normal. Now I am concerned that the belt can work it way off the sprocket and lock the rear tire up which would not be cool at all. Any ideas from the forum before it goes to the dealer? Thanks!
Can ya get it up in the air and run it in first gear to see if it's the rim or just the pulley? Also check to see how the belt is tracking and if there's unusual wear on the belt. Like Doc said, make sure your rim is adjusted correctly. What works best for me is taking a measurement on each side from the center of the swingarm axle to the center of the rear axle.
I'd thing even if U wheel is out the pulley should still track the same path..
If its out of square a bunch then if its also out of round U could see that also.
At least check the bolts.
Has it ever been dropped, or somehow took any kind of a hit on the pulley?
Tom 84 idea is also a possibility that a cover is sprung...
