Default What is the difference in model year shocks?
Does anyone know the difference between 84-88 and 89-99 year model softail shocks? Part books call a different part number even though the shocks look identical from the pictures. Could it be length or what? Big difference in price also.......

Thanks for any help you can shed on this.

I am interested in this too. The full size shocks are divided into 84-88 / 89-99... but the narrow body shocks say they will fit 84-99.

The 84-88 had smaller diameter body and shorter body. Eye to eye was same.
