Default EFI types

Hi,

I'm just a newbie here but enjoy reading the forum....many interesting and helpful posts. The question I have is regarding EFI types. I have read that Harley used two different types of EFI systems, one being a Magnetti Marelli and the other being a Delphi. I own a 2001 Softail Standard and was trying to determine which type of EFI unit is on the bike. So far I have not been able to tell which unit is which. Any help or suggested reading would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Yours should be a delphi, if you look at the intake you should see one runner, MM had two, look at the intake under the air filter.

Thanks TCSTD.....I'm still confused (don't know that much about EFI) what do you mean by one runner instead of two? Do I need to remove the air filter to see this? Thanks in advance for your help!!

You may be able to distinguish looking OVER the airfilter and between the cylinders,

To make it simple , looking down the throat of the intake under the air filter , one opening or two.

That do it?

Delphi on the left/MM on the right, hope this helps you understand it better.

There is an article in the month's American Rider that explains EFi in pretty simple terms.
