Default Stage 1 Question?

I'm preparing to do some upgrades to my bone stock '11 Heritage. I'm wanting to do V&H Softail Dual pipes, Fuelpak, and K&N RK-3910-1. My real question is the K&N filter. I'm wanting to increase my performance while keeping the stock look of the air filter housing. Anybody running his type of filter and does this seem like a compatible upgrade all together? Would this be considered a high flow air filter? Still very new to the mechanic side of the Harley world but was a car mechanic for years. Thanks for the help.

Several of the Stage 1 type air cleaner units will accept the Harley football cover. Yes, the K&N is considered a high flow filter. Do your research on fuel tuners, the Fuelpaks usually end up for sale in here or on eBay as they can be finicky to deal with and are limited as to what they are capable of. There are better units available for the same $$$.

I have the K&N RK series on my Fatboy and it's about as simple an install as you can get. It uses the stock breather bolts and a lot of the other stock hardware.

So I started looking over different tuners and to be honest I have no idea what I'm looking at. I don't understand electronics and stuff like that. I understand that I will have tune the ECM to adjust the air fuel ratio after pipes and air filter but what makes one tuner better than the other? Or perhaps a guide? I was reading the one thread as which tuner is better but most didn't say why. I was looking at the FuelMoto Power Vision but that'll put me right at my budget. I was looking at only bout $300 for a tuner. Any thought?

You can not go wrong with the power vision tuner from fuel moto ... I was new at this whole thing as well , but the service from fuel moto is impeccable ... Any question you have regarding that tuner or advice on how something has to be done .. They take the time on the phone and step you through it ... Plus you can use it on any bike you purchase in the future or a buddies bike as long as you buy the separate licensing for that new bike ... Great product IMO ...

I've tried to pinch pennies with upgrades over the years too, Some times it works out, but sometimes it doesn't and I end up spending more than if I had gotten what I wanted from the beginning.

I do a lot of my own stuff but have no clue about electronics. After a lot of research I got the Power Vision even though I don't plan on doing much more than Stage 1 on the engine. Glad I did. Super simple. Not a piggy back unit.
You reflash ecm and take it off. Preloaded programs will handle most situations. It's a real plug and play powerhouse.

Fuel moto has a great deal on a micro tuner and their A/C which you can maintain your stock cover if you choose.

Just remember, if you use your bike for more then a toy, you're screwing it up.

Both the RK-3909 and RK-3910 will push the football further out. I went with the RK-3909 and modified the filter slightly to reduce it's thickness slightly by trimming a rubber ring that contacts the cover. The 3910 is thicker still.
