Stage 1 Question?
JRL, for what you're looking for, I think Fuelmoto has the perfect setup for your bike. They have a deal where you can get their Fuelmoto micro tuner and their Fuelmoto pro billet stage 1 A/C for $299. That micro tuner runs PCV software and maps, and their stage 1 air cleaner is top quality. I run their Fuelmoto EFI tuner (PCIII) along with their A/C and am completely satisfied. And if you're looking for a plug n play unit, they got you covered. You just call them and tell them exactly what you plan to do to the bike and they will send you the tuner already mapped to your set up. They were spot on with mine. Just do a search here for Fuelmoto and you'll see nothing but positive testimony to their products.
And I'd avoid the Fuelpak as others have said here. Reason being is because the Fuelpak ONLY allows you to adjust the air to fuel ratio. Whereas the PC based units that FM sells not only adjust AFR but they allow for adjustment to ignition timing. They are just far more versatile than the Fuelpak. Give the guys at Fuelmoto a call and you'll see what I mean.

If your looking for power you may want to consider a 2:1 exhaust instead of the 2:2. I had the V&H short shots on my bike for a while but switched to a 2:1 system and noticed a significant top end power gain. Although the 2:2 systems are a bit louder. Good luck with your setup.
So I started looking over different tuners and to be honest I have no idea what I'm looking at. I don't understand electronics and stuff like that. I understand that I will have tune the ECM to adjust the air fuel ratio after pipes and air filter but what makes one tuner better than the other? Or perhaps a guide? I was reading the one thread as which tuner is better but most didn't say why. I was looking at the FuelMoto Power Vision but that'll put me right at my budget. I was looking at only bout $300 for a tuner. Any thought?
Tuner questions; you've opened a can of worms brother.
If you search this forum you'll find out that just like ******** everyone seems to have their own as far as opinions on turners.
In my opinion people do a stage one and add a tuner thinking it's really going to increase performance then when it doesn't increase performance significantly, they want to blame the tuner.
It appears that the Fuelpak is one of the most popular fuel turners, so therefore you see more of them for sale. That doesn't mean they aren't decent "Fuel" tuners.
In order to see significantly better performance, you need to do at least a stage 2 with an ECM Tuner like a Power Commander V, not a fuel tuner like the Fuel Pak or Micro Tuner.
If you are 50% or more sure that you will only do a stage 1 then buy a Fuel Tuner not an ECM Tuner. If want to buy a new fuel tuner, go with Fuelmoto's Micro Tuner. If you want to buy used, a V&H Fuel Pak works just fine. Spending the money on a Power Commander V for only a stage 1 is a waste of money.
I have a stage one on my 09 Heritage. I purchased a used Fuel Pak off e-Bay for $130 and it works just fine. It increased my MPG, my take off response and all be stopped my decel pop. For a stage 1 upgrade I don't think you can expect more than that.
Of course just like others I have an ******* and an opinion and this is only my opinion and I reserve the right to be an *******

Thanks for all the input guys. I do believe I'll be going with the Power Vision, I like the idea of the screen and I think it would help me understand more of what my bike is doing. Also I like the idea of the convience it offers. As far as the 2 into 1 systems I know they offer more performance, however I just absolutly hate the styling and its not what I'm trying to achieve.
I'm preparing to do some upgrades to my bone stock '11 Heritage. I'm wanting to do V&H Softail Dual pipes, Fuelpak, and K&N RK-3910-1. My real question is the K&N filter. I'm wanting to increase my performance while keeping the stock look of the air filter housing. Anybody running his type of filter and does this seem like a compatible upgrade all together? Would this be considered a high flow air filter? Still very new to the mechanic side of the Harley world but was a car mechanic for years. Thanks for the help.
A budget way to go with the tuner is the XiED's. They are plug and play, and will richen up your A/F mixture where you need it most (unlike the Fuel-Pak). Click HERE for more info and Dyno charts.
For a full tuner, I don't think you can do better than the Power Vision.
