I think it really turned out well. +1 on Powder Coating the chrome to black. Really great Idea man! Now get the spacers patented and you and your indy can roll in the dough.
Thanks all for compliments and suggestions. We went on an hour ride over the weekend and wifey said she was comfortable. I've put a lot of money (that was being reserved for 103/Woods Cams) in this, so before I go off and powdercoat or recover seats, I'm going to make sure she continues to be "comfortable." Ride safe,
I'm glad it works out for you. Good thing your wife is comfortable on that seat. I actually suggested the same thing to a friend who did the bobber conversion to his Bones way back when I was thinking of doing it as well. He thought it would not work and never really researched it. I looked into it a bit further and could tell that it would work but unfortunately for me, my wife found the seat for the Rocker way too small and uncomfortable ( I was surprised as she is very petite and weighs close to 100lbs.).
Shade Tree Fabrications, who makes a Crossbones bobber kit has recently developed a similar system to go with their package and it is supposed to accept any type of H-D rear pillion and it sells for only $99. They have yet to post photos on their site so I am curious to see how it looks.
Tedman that looks off the hook. Great thinking. Sean will have that seat looking like the rest in no time. Keep the pics coming when he does it, cause you know its coming
Do you think this will work on an 02 softail? I have removed the frame horns and have an aftermarket fender that mounts to the swingarm almost exactly like yours.
