So you're saying you've got $5800 in this project? All of the additional $3800 was absolutely necessary? You sound like a guy that started a project and now has buyers remorse.. Heartland didn't screw you in any way.. They tell you under each picture on their main site that the bike has been lowered 2". Their fender looking like an enduro fender is an illusion, meaning that if you cut your deuce fender at approximately the same point you would have a huge gap... Cut any softail fender at about the same point and it would look very similar..

If your wheel was out of align as much as you say you should have been on the phone with Heartland and sending pics to them so they could send you new struts, fender or whatever they deem as being wrong.. Mistakes do happen in the manufacturing process...

I could have left the orig back and front rim, tires, pully and rotors really. But since I was doing this much anyway I just did it so it would be uniform. Adds up fast. I am not blaming Heartland at all. $1,999 just seems pricy for 2 struts, brackets for signals, fender and rock guard. I havent seen many pics of an 03 with a Heartland kit so I will enjoy it. I live in Northen NJ where the roads are great for riding, other then the deer and squirls crossing constantly....

you are right!!it is way to pricey for what you get!
the progressive shocks should cost you around $300
my lowering job owes me $20,bolts only!
bolts not difficult to do!changing shocks even easier!

If it's any consolation, the bike looks really good but....

You know what I'm about to say, right?

LTR! LTR! Everybody, say it with me, "Lose the Reflectors!"

I've had the Heartland 250 on my bike for 4 years now. It's held up great and I did it all myself (aside from the tranny offset mods) with minimal knowledge. It is a little pricey but the quality is good. My first rear wheel was a shoddy chrome job and rusted all to hell in the first few months. I contacted them and they sent me a new wheel right away. No problems since then. The gap with the fender HAS always sort of bugged me, but I know that if I lowered it then there wouldn't be an issue. I've just been too lazy and cheap to actually do it. Maybe that'll be my little summer treat to myself.

I did some work with Heartland on their website a couple years ago and got to know the guys. They're good dudes.

I need to get some new pictures, now that I think of it.

My '06 Deuce has a 160 out back and I thought it was a bit wide when I bought it, don't really understand the 'wider is better' thing, (but i'm not the brightest bulb...). Been thinking about a wider tire in front though as i do some off pavement treks at times, (like those 'out of the way' places), and wider seems better on dirt, a road bike. Heartland makes a good product but if I switch my rear I think I'll get a blank fender and drill it to fit, seems easier and I won't have to set my 'soft tail' down. All these Dueces look " KILLER KOOL ", though, jus' sayin'...

I did the 180 on my train with a Metz. The fender sets a little to the left over the tire, my bike has been slammed in the rear since the day I got it home. Never had the first real fitment issue with the kit, I did a lot of putting together and taking apart to double and triple check everything before I drilled the fender. Love the kit, if I had to do it all over again I would still use the Heartland kit

Oh, and the rear fender I got I had to drill the holes to mount it myself...
