Cool Rear tire 2006 Duece??????

I have the stock tire and rim on my duece. I want to say it is a 160 series. My question is can I fit a 180 series tire on the stock rim that as of right now is sporting the 160 series If not what do I need to do to accomplish this? I thought about going with the 200 series heartland kit but if this is as simple as another rim if needs be and a narrow belt I will probably just do the 180. If there is anything I need to be aware of by trying to swap out to this please let me know. Thanks for your time and help

You need a 5.5" rim to mount a 180. I don't know what size your stock rim is but I would imagine it is not a 5.5" rim.

your stock rim is 4.25, you can go to 170, however you can get a SE180 from the dealer specificaly designed to fit on your rim,not the flashest tyre, not sur if its a true 180!!
you can put a 18x5.5 with a 180 on your bike with no mods at all ala my bike!
you can run a 200 on a 18x5.5 if you go to narrower belt and pulley (06 nightrain)
you would have to remove swingarm to change to narrow belt, you dont need an expensive kit! the deuce rear fender and struts from a deuce will take a 200

What size belt and pulley do I have to swap out to fit a 200 series tire? So just so I understand the 18x5.5 will work with the 180 & 200 series tire?

yes! 18x5.5 will work with 180 ,or 200
you need the narrower belt and pulley,7/8" wide, you can use belt and pulley from a 06 nightrain for a 200 tyre

diggin up this thread because i wanna do atleast a 180 on my 07 deuce this winter. 200 if i can do it cheap enough. i dont have a problem with getting a different wheel, i just wanna know if the 18x5.5 is a stock wheel on another model, of if this is something ill have to get through aftermarket. also, does anyone know if my 07 deuce DOESNT share any common components of the 06-earlier deuces? i would hate to buy all the stuff i need just to find out one little thing was different in 07 on my bike and i just wasted my money.

sixshooter,
save yourself some money and headaches and go with the SE180 on your stock rim. It's a bolt on install, no new belt or hardware, no shaving of wheel spacers or brake caliper, etc. The tire is a good tire but doesn't wear that well if you ride hard; you will be lucky to see 8k miles; some claim 10K but I have worn two out and replaced when the wear bars show.

The downside is that the tire is only available from H-D and most want about $240-$250. Used to be available from Zanotti's for under $200 but just checked and now $207. Check other discount H-D dealers for price; maybe cheaper. The PN is 43197-04B SE GT502 180/60B17.

thanks for the helpful info. and i cant wait to get 8k out of a tire! the only other bikes ive put tires on were my crotch rocket, and i only got 3500 out of each tire at $230 a pop. 8k for me is just about a full season, so thats about all im lookin for. and rookie question.... the "SE" on that tire, does that stand for screamin eagle like all other screamin eagle parts or is it something different?

I run a Carriage Works 18" x 5.5 on my Deuce with a 180 Metzeler 880. No mods, no newspacers, nothing. Bolts right in. Fits just fine. No changes required

A friend of mine put a 180 on his Deuce stock wheel with no problem. I have another who put a 200 using the Hogpro kit. He said it was a bit of a pain to install and you have to use a narrower belt, ala the Dyna belt, but it looks bad a$$ when complete. Cost about $1500.00 complete.
