Well my bike stalled again this morning when stopping at a light. This is the 3rd time in 3 months it's done that. The symptoms are I'm riding for about 30 mins at a pretty constant speed (60-65 mph), then come to a stop. When I pull in the clutch the idle drops slowly till the bike stalls. It always starts right up again and the bike seems fine the rest of the time. This is weird because it happens so infrequently. I ride a lot so 3 times in 3 months is not a lot but it is annoying. My bike is an 07 Deluxe. Any ideas would be appreciated. The normal idle sometimes bounces a little but never to the point where the bike feels like it's going to stall. I just had a service so the air cleaner should be clean.
Had the same problem with my 08 last year. Found that if I turned the key switch off and restarted it there would be a longer interval before it stalled again (As opposed to just hitting the start button)
I was also having intermittent high idle and pinging problems when the bike was hot.
Took it to a dealer and they couldn't duplicate any of the issues but they told me there was an updated software flash for the high idle issue. They installed it under warranty and for whatever reason it solved all 3 problems I was having.
My wife has an 08 Deluxe and she's never had a similar issue so maybe it had something to do with the date of manufacture.
i was going to suggest remove the battery and re initialize your ecm. if that does not work then clean the intake with berryman b12 carb cleaner and that will clean all the electronics in there.
