Hey all, so i have a 2012 slim. Last night on my way home it started having weird idle issues. As i would coast into a stop light with the clutch in the bike would stay at around 1600 rpm's until i came to a complete stop. Once i stopped it dropped back down to a 1000 rpm. This morning i took it on a quick trip to try and pinpoint the issue only now its dropping down to 700 rpm and sounds like it wants to stall as i coast to a stop. But same thing once i stop it picks back up to a thousand. I'm thinking the idle air control nay be the issue but im kinda lost. Any help?
Quite new for the IAC since it's only an air valve (unless the counter motor is actually going out) Any mods like piggyback tuner or such? Bad gas would cause the low idle problem but not the 1600
Not to hijack but I am having the same problem with my carb S&S E. Maybe dirty fouled jets? Maybe ethenol eating rubber getting into jet? Be nice to know.
I've had a similar issue for a while now with my 12' Fat boy Lo. The RPMs will drop down to the low nines, 800, I've seen 700 once. Hasn't died yet though and as random as the problem is it's happening more often. I'm not sure if it's doing the 1600 thing or not. The gear indicator in the Gear/RPM odometer function will also flash random gears when the clutch is pulled in. I've got a thread on here about it somewhere. I took it to the dealer and they test rode it and of course couldn't get the problem to occur so I've got it back at the house now. I picked up a throttle position sensor because someone on my thread mentioned it helped with a similar issue. 37 bucks and I'll put it on myself so if it doesn't work it's not too much damage to my pocket book. The dealer wanted to blame my power vision when I brought the bike in. That doesn't make sense though since I'd had the current tune in for a while before the issues popped up and the power vision flashes the ECM and isn't a piggy back system. I could see where a failing power command V or similar tuner could cause problems. The guy I initially talked to at the dealer on the phone said he thought it could be the battery. The dealer didn't test the battery as far as I know. Let me know what you find out and I'll be sure to post if the new sensor did anything or not. Hopefully I'll be able to get it on in the next few days.
