So... if the X-Bones is the bike you can't stop drooling over, go get it.

I, for the most part, agree with the "if you want it, get it" approach. You'll get used to the ride, but do yourself a favor and take a riding coarse and get your M designation and rent a few bikes so you can really see the difference. No one can tell you what you're gonna be comfortable with but you. The bones probably aint gonna be the most comfortable ride in the shop but if you like the styling you'll forgo some comfort for it.

Good luck and welcome to the fold. Oh, and remember, what you pay for the bike is simply the down payment on all the crap you're gonna buy to bolt on.

Like others have said, dont just go by our opinions, get out and rent for a weekend or so. It's a large chunk of scratch to lay down on something you want to buy that you've never riden before. Definately take a riders course as well. Can only help.

welcome to the group and post some pics when you purchase.

My first bike I had was an 06 Springer. I had never ridden anything but that except for the basic rider course. Which is the little 250 Honda in a parking lot. I had a lot of people tell me you dont want a springer. Most of these people never had owned one though. If you really want to know go ask someone who is riding one. I am sure he will tell you how much he loves it.

Springer "tough to ride long distances"...your friend is highly ill-informed.

The bones is incredibly comfortable to ride long distance...the only thing that would make it more comfortable is to have a windscreen...but then, they ruin the looks of the bike IMO.

Hollywood that was perfectly put, i'm going to do it. this year they don't have the night train so i couldn't sit on it, but that was always my favorite bike. i'm 6'4" and now that i see that vicious night train in baltimore with the flame and skull, it peaked my interest. would i fit on that bike or would it be too small. no dealer near me has any left. what do you think?

I tell all new riders the same thing. Buy whatever you want, just take the safty course. One of the guys I work with took the safty course (early 50's age) and for his very first bike he bought a road king. He had no problems.

It's a pretty cool bike. I've seen it over there before.

Throw some 3" extensions on the controls and you'll be fine. I'm 6' and really comfortable, but planning on doing the 3" extensions sometime.

You could also convert the X-bones to pegs with the +3". I saw a thread here where someone had used the +3 extensions on the floorboards too. All things to consider...
