you got it bunkerbeer. did you buy your bikes from ny or pa? i ask because it seems that some states have much cheaper prices than other states and i have not checked any places in pa yet. long island dealers are at the higher end of the spectrum it seems.

been riding since 77 and the first springer i ever rode was my 06 springer classic, probably never ride hydraulic again. I,m 6' 2" and have plenty of room on the springer which is the same basic bike as the Xbone. Try danbury or New Roc to rent a bike for a weekend.

Maybe one day I'll hop on a Street Glide and have a revelation and go "Holy crap, this is what i've been missing?" but until then, I'm happy (to the tune of 14K miles in a little over a year) on my Night Train.

So... if the X-Bones is the bike you can't stop drooling over, go get it.

Truer words have seldom been spoken. Before I bought my Bones back in July of 08, I had never even sat on a motorcycle. As I thought of purchasing one, I initially ruled H-D out because I knew I could get other brand bikes for a lot less and all I was looking for was a commuter to save gas. When I walked into an H-D dealer to look at jackets (I was having a real hard time finding a jacket that fit and I was willing to try anything) I scoped the Bones on the way into the dealership and that was all she wrote. I still spent about two months looking at all the other options while I waited to take my certification course but in the end my wife pushed me over the edge saying "Just get the one you want even if it costs a little more. You know you will ride it forever."

It has been less than two years and I just logged over 20k miles and I have no regrets! Was it harder to learn on a Springer? Who knows? All I can say is that when I saw those chrome springs set against the blacked out forks, there was no way I was NOT going to learn to ride this bike.

good points by everyone. to earnest, i still have to get my license to test ride- just had cervical spine surgery so i'm waiting for the ok to take the class. i am not impressed with new roc hd even though they are 5 min away. danbury seemed to care more about their customers and they worked with the price fairly competitive from the beginning. new roc seemed to play games and not really care about the customer. i would def use danbury or even o'tooles in wurtsboro or burgan hd. with reggies closed i think new roc feels they can do what they want. they never even told me about the deals from harley going on in april and were charging more for the vivid black crossbones than danbury was for the denim crossbones.
