softail custom should have a wideglide style front end on it.
I have a night train, same set up.
I can ride no hands @ 70+ mph with no wobble.
prob needs a steering head adjustment.
it's common, have to do it a couple times a season on mine.

Thanks for the input. I'm not sure if I'll end up getting it or not. I would really like to but I'm not sure about trying to swing $10,000 right now. If I wouldget it, I'd test ride a new one that they have and compare it to the way the used one rides so I'd be able to tell if its the bike or me just not being use to the narrow front end with such a wide rear tire. It definatly rides a lot different then the sporty.

You can scrape the pegs on a FXSTC just like you can on a Sporty.
If you're leaning harder than that you're probably going down anyway no matter which bike you're on.
You can also run 85 all day long, 95+ if you care too......in comfort.
Front end doesn't wobble when it's adjusted correctly.
Good tires and tire pressure are important.

I started noticing a wobble, especially at low speed, at about 10k miles....dealer said it was the neck bearings being a little loose. at my 10k service, they tightened them up and everything was perfect as it had been before.

the slimmer front tire should never cause a wobble. What you will notice that is different from FL front ends is that when riding over serrated pavement(like when they are in various stages of putting down new pavement, or going over an older metal grate bridge), is that the front end will "wander" a little over the serrations.....that takes a little getting use to, and I have experienced it maybe twice in 25k miles.

you found an '07 FXSTC for $10K? wow, that sounds like a GREAT deal depending on mileage and condition.

oh, regarding the riding position that the OP spoke about. I actually lowered the mini-apes and angled them down toward me. that way, I am not reaching as far to get to the grips, and my hands are about at chest/heart level(helps with minimizing numb fingers and riding for awhile).

i immediately felt comfortable the first time I sit on a Custom, and didn't have to get used to it at all. I imagine smaller stature folks might find it different with the laid back sitting position, forward controls and reach for the mini-apes...

Hold your money, heard they are cancelling the softail custom which means they will have to bring back one of the other models with some sort of change to it to replace it because other than the rocker the softail custom is the only other FX style softail. Something to think about.
