I made a huge mistake. I bought at new Road Glide Custom without researching it first. Now I have a bike that buffets the hell out of me and I'm about to trade it in for something else. Should of stuck to a Fatboy like I had before.
And I have two Clearview different clearview windshields coming but I'm sure it will screw up the chopped roadster look of the custom. Why do they sell a bike like this that isn't functional unless you get a windshield that makes it look like an ultra. Man I'm mad!
Kajun check out the Cee Bailey web site for shields.
There is a guide based on your height and Road Glide model/year. Their shields are well recommended.
Buffeting is a common issue for bikes with fairings. Their wouldn't be so many company's out there selling shields, lowers, etc. if that weren't the case.
Most people with touring bikes have tried numerous shields to address the same issue. Usually the answer is low shield for cruising and tall shield for touring.
Agree with Houston. I've had all models of hd except v rod and just got a 2011 RGC. I love the way it handles. Seems to me all bikes have their drawbacks. I have a CEe Bailey coming for the longer rides. I'm using the hd wind splitter for around town. Try a couple of ws first like above post
...... i wouldn't give up on the Road Eye, period.
.... Suck it up & suffer the buffet back to the dealer to get a pair of those clip-on wind deflectors HD now sells & order a set of HogChops.
... Combine that w/your choice of a recurved windscreen & you'll have the badass, long rider you're wanting.
