Default Shock Bolt sheared off on 07 Deluxe

I am looking for anybody else that this might have happened to along with some advice. I am 240 miles from home. The lower left shock bolt sheared off somewhere along the way. Should I just call for the trailer? Is there a greater possibility that the right shock will do the same? The local dealer could not give me an actual estimate on how much to repair it. He said he would have to remove the swing arm and take it to a machine shop. He also didn't have the bolt in stock. He said it would be at least 4hrs and he would have to use a bolt that he "acquired" from another bike. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I will almost bet that the bolt is got loctite on it, so a left hand drill will do little good. The arm bolt hole will have to be drilled up to the maximum size and the largest easy out used to get it out. Or do this, look for a used swing arm that someone has swapped out for a chrome one, they sell for around $75.00 used at swap meets or ebay. This will be cheaper than the machine shops bill I bet. As far as it goes on driving on it I would chance it as long as I had a friend follow me and take it slow.

Best of luck getting your bike home. I dont think I would ride with one shock as it seems the arm would try to twist under load. better safe than sorry.

Wow never have heard of that happening until now. those rear shock bolts are pretty meaty. If it were my bike, I'd make sure both bolts were nice and tight before going anywhere.

Heating the bolt will release the thread locker. Might as well at least try and get it out before you buy another. If you have the means to do it yourself.
