the front fender that most have from heartland
is it re in forced on inside? lots that i see alot is hangin toward rear
vs up front is that a problem w/ bumps wind etc.
thanks
The Heartland front fender is a two half fenders welded together. At the top and bottom ends, a reinforcing strip is tacked on for support.
Maybe half the reason I am so negative about the Heartland rear kit is I bought their front fender and was not impressed with the finished product. I always hear how great the quality is on their products but that wasn't the case with mine. I had originally ordered a front fender from Debrix and, although they sent the wrong fender and I decided to go with Heartland's, it would have took alot less prep work.
The Heartland had deep spaces in between the welds, still had alot of the "black smoke" on it and in the valleys between the welds, the outer edge was along the sides was very sharp curved out sligthly (every time I tried to do some fine sanding on the primer if I brushed the edge it would immediately be bare metal again) and had to be sanded off some before I could do a proper prep job, and all the way along the top the was a slight ridge about a half inch over from the weld that didn't look like it should be there and had to be filled in to give it a proper rounded look.
Not sure if the employee that did mine was in a hurry to leave that day or what, but that is the only experience I have had with Heartland's products and it was a real disappointment. When I can purchase a fender from Debrix for $60, I expect a fender from Heartland for $289 to impress me when it arrives and not require alot of additional prep.
Also, it still had alot of grind marks and rough spots along the outside. Not sure about the strength, haven't had any issues but haven't put on any real miles, but as far as workmanship and finished product, my front was lacking.
Not re inforced, had zero probs too, I actually thought it was better than the stock...Very well finished and just light sand and straight to paint...
I ordered mine through Hogparts about 2 months ago. I should have taken pics to show exactly how shoddy the finished product they sent was or sent it back and asked them to send a new one so maybe this was an isolated incident. I keep hearing that Heartland has quality products so I dunno...
