Hey all, my Rocker FXCWC is still undergoing it's engine wear in phase, it only has 150 miles on it. One thing that I've noticed is that the engine pops very loudly on startup (almost like a back fire) on occasion. Is this normal or something that I should be worried about?
Again I'm still a HD noob, and mechanically defunct, so please bear with me.
are you sure its coming from the motor? its probably the compensator bottoming out as the starter fires the engine. it makes a loud metallic thump almost like whacking it with a hammer. the new models are notorius for that.

Would be my thought as well, I've read up on compensators lately and found this to be a common complaint...SE has an upgraded compensator with a different spring pack set up that eliminates the glunk/bang/pop at start up.
Since I have changed my pipes to the Big Radius, every now and then I get a "backfire" or "pop" when starting the engine. I don't think it is anything to worry about.
Likely just the normal HD start up sound. Sounds like a bolt busting off. After a while you'll learn to love the sound . Just to be on the safe side next time you're at your dealer have them take a listen to it. Or you can listen to some other bikes starting up.
