It's gotta block at least 50% of the cfm's. I'd say it's a big NO, for performance.

All show and no go it sounds like then. I guess at this point I would say it's sure not worth the money then. I really like the performance the HB gives and wouldn't want to take that away to ad a little more bling. I have been running mine with the rain sock on all the time because I like how it looks on my black Rocker. I know the dealer that did all the work on my bike said the sock wont changes the performance of the cycle but I never did ask about the chrome cover. Glad I ask all of you before dropping the money and taking away from all the money I just put into it. ;-)

Agreed. The black pre-filter looks good on a black bike, but it does a great job of keeping rain out of the filter.

Don't do it, the thing weighs a ton!

On a different not it would be good to know how to turn the red filter black (other than not ever cleaning it!) - anyone know if you can get a black filter oil instead of the red stuff used to restore the filter?

Precisely. There is no replacement for (air filter) displacement.

I installed the Tear Drop cover and noticed no difference in performance.
I don't drag race it, so if there is a loss no loss.

I'm not into it. If you want to change the color of the filter, you can buy a sock in different colors from "outerware". The one harley gives you with the HB is the same size of the one I used to run on my ATV 250r Honda.
