"Ape" install started today
Not really calling them "Ape's", but started the install on a set of Street Bob bars on my Train I swapped some grips for.
Didn't get terribly far today, but I spent alot of time getting aquainted with the manual and I, of course, managed to dork up a couple things even though I read ALOT of good install posts here.
I had the SB bars powdered for $40 local, look pretty good.
Anyhoo, here's some pics from todays work. Except for bleeding the brake, I've got the top end all assembled.
Still need to:
Bleed front brake
Do bottom end of clutch cable
Extend left side wiring 6 inches (thought I might make it, but right side had enough slack, left did not. Arg.)
Parts I fvcked up:
Even after reading about it, I managed to scratch the rocker cover trying to cheat and slide the tank back. Ended up taking it off. Making a mess with fuel BTW.
I think I snapped the fuel feed line plastic tube doing the same boneheaded maneuver. More to come when I get under there to check it out.
BTW: Did my trade for the bars with a member named HATZO1. Very reliable dude. Packed everyhting really well and got them out the day after we set it up. Props to Chris.

More to come tomorrow or Monday...
Cheers.

in a few days who cares anyway,i doubt i remember
all the scratches LOL LOL doin it yerself rocks
keep up good work & keep postin pics
Made a HUGE mess with fuel, so if you're doing this, DON'T cheat and try to get by with having a full tank of gas and sliding the tank back. Empty the fuel and remove the tank by the book. Would have saved myself a mess and splashing EVRYTHING with gas.
Oh well, live and learn. Pulled the bike out and hosed it down to rinse the misc gas, brake fluid, tranny fluid fingerprints and stuff.
Pics aren't great, but the bars feel good and with the Saddlemen solo and 2" risers, they are suprisingly right below my shoulders. A good fit for bars that (I think) only have a 10" rise. Of course they feel higher since I kicked 'em forward some. Didn't really set out on the gansta look, but being 6', that is the natural spot they feel tall and comfortable.
Thanks for all the good posts and help everyone!

Thanks, world of difference from the stock drags. Kind of weird and I have to get used to 'em. slow speed cornering if more touchy I think. I feel like I'm learning to ride all over again doing the super slow in traffic bit, wandering all over the place, lol.
