Looking for some help here. Searched the forums and google extensively but don't have my answer yet.
I'm planning on getting new wheels and tires in the near future, both front and back. I want to go from the stock dunlops (200mm rear) to a metzler 210mm, and in the front to a bigger than stock front, probably a 120mm metzler.
From reading people's posts, the best thing to do would be to keep the stock geometry with the tires.
Which metzler front/rear combo would be the best to achieve the best tire geometry? And would a size other than 120 be better (I just want bigger than stock)?
The front I'm a little confused on.
Stock is MH90-21 54H. Is the 90 the width of the tire? 21 the rim diameter? But where is the aspect ratio?
For rims, in front I'm planning on getting a 21x3.5 or 21x3. Rear, hdwheels.com has 17" at 6-7" width, and 18" at 7-8" width. What's the difference, if any, with going with the lower end compared with the higher end?
I recently faced the same challenge as you are. Didnt like the narrow front tire on my Train. To keep the 21 inch up front, and increase the tire width to a 120 series, youll need a 3 inch wide rim. Hog Pro hooked me up with a bolt-on replacement rim which included the correct hub for my bike. I also ordered one of their brake rotors and had them mount and balance a tire prior to shipment.
The wider tire in the front improved stability and handling of the bike and Im glade I made the switch. Google Hog Pro to retrieve the phone number and give Glenn a call.
O-Ya just so you know the Fender didn't Fit I just had it layin on there , just got my new Fender from Ebay still gotta mount it
should have it on this weekend and I'll have Pics
Went with the same wheel set up for my 09 nigh train, 18x5.5 rim, tire/200/50/18 rear and 21x3.5rim,tire 120/70/21 front with metz 880, I got them in and went to put them on and the hubs were offset wrong, But From what I can tell it will look alot better. From the guy I purchased the wheels from everthing should be at the same heights.
