Default Rocker mod/tune question

I have a new 2010 Rocker C and have a question for you guys. I have 2.00 Rush exhaust and will be putting on a SE heavy breather as soon as I can get the time to do the install. My question is with those two mods to the bike what do you recommend for a tune, or do I even need to bother with it. I have read several post which are similar, some say call Fuel Moto, some say just take it to HD for a tune. What you guys think?

if you do both breather and exhaust you should (best practice) retune your ECM. Now which way you choose to go there is another question. All depends on what else you are planning to do. If you think that that will most likely be all the chances you will make to the engine then a simple download by your stealer will do. they will download a correct map and reflash the ECM for you. I think something like 200 bucks or so.
If you think you might want to change more (engine/performance wise) then I would say go for SERT, PowerCommander V or something else like that. There are others, but in general you will want something that piggybacks on the HD ECM and changes its orders to the engine. This will allow you to Dyno tune your bike for best possible map to suit your bike, setup and driving, and allow you to make further changes which will then only need a new map tuning.
if you are curious about which tuner to go for, do a few searches here, there have been enough threads to cover each and every make and each and ever arguement for and against them.

Nice bike by the way

Yeah right now those are my only planned changes. But, you know how that goes. Once this set of mods is done, then the next set, then the next, etc. etc....
I have finished doing mods to my Road King at least a dozen times now lol.

I was in your shoes a couple years ago.. Wanted a 2-1 pipe and heavy breather.. Had em installed and the dealer download was $125.. 8 months later I tore into the motor and had to buy a new tuner so I basically wasted the $125.. I went with the TTS and I am super pleased with it.. Did the tune myself using the TTS software..

Rail, that is exactly what i'm talking about. Went through the same thing with my Road King. I'm seeing alot of post on this Thunermax, just not sure if I want to spend that kind of cash right now.

ugg... I just read through 6 pages of tuner post. From what I have read so far every tuner out there is the best tuner ever made lol.

You will NEED a tuner once you add the air filter. You can pick whichever you like, but more air will make the bike run leaner than it already does and leaner means HOTTER. Power Commander, FuelPak, TTS, Thundermax, and the list goes on.

Well it appears my options are as follows...
Go to stealer and get a one time tune
Get a TTS mastertune for single bike and do it myself
--Get TTS mastertune for two bikes and be set for both bikes
Get PCV and do it myself
--Get PCV autotune to go with PCV tuner
Get Thundermax plug it in and call it a day

Of course it gets progressively move expensive as I go down the list and I appear to not have any idea what to do yet lol.

RockerKing- If your not willing to spend that cash for a thundermax then go with a basic PCV...nothing wrong with them and they can be adjusted down the road if you do anymore changes. Nothing wrong with the SEST either just more expensive and honestly at that point you should invest in the Thundermax.....for me I dont regret having the V&H FP but Im getting ready to go with a higher lift cam and have no other choice but to go with Thundermax simply because this is only the begining. The FP sucks but gets the job done with an open aircleaner and open pipes but even the FP guys cant stop "load ups" in second or third gear creating a backfire(s). So bottom line, if you want to be like the majority of this forum - buy a piggyback then firgure out later the Thundermax is the way to go, wasted money? Nah...bike changes as you do and nothing is cheap.
