Default Differences in Progressive 413 vs 422 Shocks

What are the differences between these two?

I get the impression the 422 is a bit more of a step up from the 413..
And that the 413 is already a step up from OEM.

Was just wondering what you guys with either could share. All I've read on the 413's sofar here have been positive.. "Better ride than stock even though it's lowered." How about the 422's? Either I missed it but I'm not reading much about them.

I saw one dealer with the 422 for $399 but not many 413's online.

Retail sure isn't exactly cheap for sure on either. They're sure proud of them.. knowing of course you get what you pay for.

I'm weighing the ease of installation and expense of a "better" shock verses just a lowering kit attached to OEM..
If the performance is that much better, I could see stashing away for the shocks, verses a $50 lowering kit and trying to borrow a friends press and the pain of dissassembling shocks etc. If money was no object, I'd just swap the shocks at about 1" to maybe 1.5" shorter and be done with it.

But here I'm really just asking about the 413 vs the 422 progressive shocks.

Ok.. got this from a dealer:

The 422 is the replacement. They are nitrogen charged, come with the exposed springs & have revised bushings. The 422 is the old air tail shock body redesigned to run w/out the air hookup.

Question answered.

Doh, I'm late. I contacted Progressive and it took a couple of days but they got back to me with pretty much the same info:

***
The 422 series shocks have super ceded the 413 because we are now using a billstine damper an the shocks are adjustable.

Thank You,

Why not? I read lot's of praise for the 413's in here. Although I'm seeing a good price for the 422's.. well.. none of the shock prices are good, but in comparison, it's reasonable at around $400ish.

Yeah, kind of weird. I thought both models were adjustable anyway. My emailed question had been bounced between a couple of people based on the forwarding headers, so who knows. Maybe someone somewhere is having issues with the 413's.
