I weigh 175 and ride 2 up occasionally with my wife at 115 with no change to preload. Ride is fine for me either way unless I hit a really big bump. Even then it is only a little rougher than stock. Just finished riding 900 miles in 3 days and felt it was way better than stock.
Progressive 413's on the bump stop in the rear... Progressive drop in's up front with 2" under tubes... It can be a harsh ride sometimes but it worth it to me...

Could you give me a bit more info on the 2 under tubes?? Would this be possible with a Fatboy since I have all the "covers" on the fork tubes? Did you do anything else to the tubes (other parts) when replacing them?
My stock tubes were 24.5" I think? The new ones 22.5" Take off the sliders swap out the tubes... messy but easy enough to do yourself. I also run SE extra heavy racing fork oil.
Like I said before I also have a drop in lowing kit from progressive in there and the PVC is cut down to 3.25"
Now with your front end you can do it but I would watch the cow bells I wouldn't go lower then where the slider taper might not look so good... The frontend are pretty much the same under the covers.
Story.. how did you get the 413's to go all the way down to the bump stops. I'm running the airtail right now, only reason was to get it that low. But if the 413's will give me the same result I'll ditch the airride its pos anyways...
It's all in the preload... if the preload is set stiff it won't move much... if it's set soft it will allow the shocks to extend a little more... but then again it could just be my size... lol
When you wanna swap you air ride for my 413's let me know...
