I have looked through many of the lowered bike threads and they usually get overrun with air rides. Nothing wrong with that but there seem to be many people that don't want to or cant drop 2k on them. I am looking to get some pics and comments from people with adjustable shocks only.
Put the Progressive 422's on the back to drop 2 inches and replaced the front springs with Progressive but left at stock height. Easy install and never been happier.
I dropped mine 2" in the rear with the lowering bolts. I did not touch the front. After dropping the back I think I would hit my floorboards on every turn if I dropped the front at all. It handles better than stock. It does ride rougher but I stiffened the preload and it helped. What can I say I would rather spend $30 than 1k+ on air ride. Don't get me wrong I love air ride but I'm too cheap to get one HaHa!

I don't get it. If it rides rougher, won't increasing the preload make it even more stiff. Or did you mean in riding rougher that it bottoms out more and increasing the preload prevents this?
Just put the 422s on my bike and the ride is harsh, like a hardtail. I'm 190 and I have it set with the least amount of preload (nut all the way in, i.e. all the threads showing).
It was a little tricky getting the 422's set. I tried them low and they were too harsh for my busted up back so I put them almost to stock height and they were better but too stiff so I got that adjusted.
Then I put a car tire on the back and that lowered it an inch and helped with the suspension too. Now I'm happy with it. I haven't ridden it with a passenger though. I'm sure I would need to mark where the sweet spot is for just me and me with passenger to make the adjustment as quick as possible.
Seriously though; if this were my only bike I'd get the Shotgun system air ride system or one of equal quality.
