My Ultra lights up less than a gallon. I agree, I hate running with less than a 1/2 tank, you just never know.
Buddy of mine has RKC and had troubles with his light. Had 1/2 a tank and the light would come on. Been back to the dealer 3 or 4 times, still happens. So now, he just keeps an eye on the trip meter.

yep! never have put more than 3.5 gal. in. Even though I know how far I can travel on a tank full, the little idiot light still makes me a bit nervous.
3.5 to 4 gal. if i stand the bike up and then turn on the ignition it comes on at 4 gal. most accurate if you are riding level ground it cuts on at 4 gal. i get fuel between 120 and 140 miles.
