So only had the bike for about a month now and haven't put much more than a hundred miles on 'er so far. Between weather and work its been tough finding that quality time.
Anyway, today as I was leaving the garage I decided to start 'er up in gear, with the clutch pulled in of course, and lo and behold she engaged for a brief second.
First time I'm seeing this as I typically start up in Neutral...
Normal for a brand new bike to lurch forward a lil bit when everything is new and tight......it's not like she's going to take off or nothing right? She just gives a litle fwd movement....mine did the same thing...leave her alone and ride it.....It will stop doing that in a few hundred miles...

But she's not brand new. She an 08 - I bought her with 2800 miles. But yes, just a small forward movement and then its ok.
Something worth noting as well, the clutch lever has about a half inch of play...
It will happen every time when the bike is cold. Try starting it after a 20 min ride with the clutch pulled. Also you should have about 1/8" gap between perch and clutch cable. May need some adjustment. Also would not hurt to do a clutch pack adjust. Both are very simple. But even with everything dialed in, your bike will lurch when starting it in gear when it's cold
Clutch cable should have between 1/8" - 1/4" of play at clutch lever per manual; adjuster is located behind front tire half way down the frame (should have a rubber cover on it about 4" long).

DING DING DING....winner winner chicken dinner. My old Street Bob had less play than that and it wanted to engage. Take it to the stealer as it might still be under warranty.
I hear you... And mine is covered to 2012... But I have some serious trust issues with who touches my bike... lol
BTW Gazoo... You can by an extended warranty for another five years if you do it before your factory one expires. Ask the dealer about that when you talk to them.

I went out and bought a manual and will start reading tonight. Stealer told me to bring it in and he'd do it for free but I figure I'd give it a try myself.
