If your going to with the heritage mini apes, I suggest going with the old style heritage bars. Not the 09-10 bars. I just put them on my 2000 heritage and I hated them. I got a pain in the middle of my shoulder blades. I did a search, and I found others had the same issue.
I now went back to my old heritage bars again until I get some wild1's. The old style heritage bars are very comfortable, they just look like a doberman dog with his ears pined back that's all.
Thanks for all the advice. If anyone has an old set of Heritage bars, please let me know. I have ridden a Classic the last three years (fly & ride) and they are perfectly fine. Are these the same bars that most of you are referring to?

Yes, the Heritage Classic. Just wondering which year classic you where riding?
I have a set of 09-10 bars slightly used I would part with.
Just make sure you get bars that are made for the springer. Springer bars have a center to center of 4 3/4 where standard bars like on the heritage/fatboy/deluxe have a 3.5 c/c. Just incase you didn't know.

Exactly why he should go with the cross bones bars. People are selling those all over in the classifieds right now. Usually with a few cables too, for around 100 bucks.
On my FXSTS, I went with Wild 1 drag bars on stock risers. I maybe lean over a little bit more as it doesn't have the rise the old factory bars have.
Will the Heritage bars work? If so, I am happy to purchase them from you. What is the biggest issue with the center measurement? If it is only for aesthetics, I do not mind...also, DaddyKnuck, you mentioned pull back risers. Excuse my ignorance, but, what would these do? Do they make the bars closer to the rider? Are these something I should get from a dealer or Crossbones or Wild 1?
Again, I really appreciate all the feedback. I have been riding a few years, but do not have the experience or knowledge that you guys have.

There is the matter of aesthetics, but there is also the potential for other problems. First you'd have to determine if there was enough flat space on the bottom of the bar to allow the springer risers (1.25" wider) to work. Also, you might not have enough knurling in contact with the riser to get a tight fit. Overall, best to use springer bars. If you like the Heritage Softail bend you can get something that looks the same.
There are also what are known as offset dogbone risers. As you can see from the picture of my bike, these risers offset the bars an inch or more. I have mine mounted to give me more reach because I'm from the big and tall bin. You could turn them around. They come in various offsets, are rubber mounted and very old school.
DaddyKnuck--Do you know of anyone who sells "Heritage-style" Springer bars? I have been in contact only with Wild 1. They seem to make a nice (but expensive!) product. My concern is that I do not want to throw out a couple hundred bucks on something which is not going to solve my problem. I also saw they carry offset risers which cost more than new bars. If you know anyone who can help, please steer me in their direction. My 4,000 mile trip begins July 24th...THANK YOU again!

J&P has a wide selection of springer bars. These look like a Heritage bend to me.
