Default crossbones with PCV

I have a 2009 Crossbones with VH Shortshots, Arlen Ness stage 2 intake and PCV. I purchased the PCV from fuelmoto already programmed and sent them an email some time ago and haven't gotten any feedback so I'm posting here.

I am 240lbs and drive mostly highway roads and my mpg is never higher than 40. Is this to be expected or should I go and get a dyno tune?

Opinions??

Well more air and more exhaust require more fuel, so the gas milliage will go down. The Crossbones stock is estemated at 54mpg Highway. If you can get a dyno tune, get one. It could help you get a little closer to 54 again, but will will be a all around better tune since its dialed in for your setup.

I never get more than about 37 mpg with my 09 Fatboy, PCV from fuelmoto, BSS and S&S intake I honestly would be happy with 40 mpg

I'd be curious to see how much better gas mileage you could get with a dyno tune. I have been riding my 2008 Crossbone in stock form for almost two years now. I am 225 lbs and I also ride mostly highway miles and I have never gotten much more than 45 mpg. There are a lot of factors outside of the bike itself that seem to affect this. Here in Florida I understand that the 10% ethanol in the gasoline makes it cheaper (or so they say) but it also provides less miles per gallon. I have always wanted to go with some after market pipes and filter but I worried that as Sgt. Sportster stated about my mpg's going down.

I just figured my mpg for the last tank at 40 and some change. I have the fuel pak/Big Radius 2 into 2, and SE intake.

Default updated map

I just heard back from Jaime at Fuelmoto and he sent me a new map specifically for the shortshots and my exhaust. For some reason, my PCV was sent to me with a map for the big shots. I compared the two maps and they were significantly different. I'll monitor the mileage and see what I get now.

I think that MPG sounds okish. As others have pointed out with that setup you will loose in millage. Dyno tune will prob help a little but you will have to point out to the tuner that you are looking for better MPG and not more acceleration. Tuners can tune more in one direct than the other.
But 40 sounds about right I would say....maybe 45, but I doubt you will be able to get better than that.

Default update

So I took my first greater than 30 mile ride today and I'm not sure if it was me or if it was running hot. It seemed to be running much hotter than the old map. I sent an email to Jaime asking his opinion on this. I guess there isn't much I can do other than get an oil temp gauge to tell for sure ??
