Default Softail Deluxe

I've had mine for couple years now and noticed something last evening. Usually when up and cruising, I've developed a bad habit of stretching my legs up on top of my chrome engine guard ( I don't have the one designed for your feet). It's like it was set up and designed for me, perfect and comfortable. But last night I happened to rest my boot heels, with my feet cocked outward, just slightly under and outside of the shifter and brake pedal. Never did this before, but man it was perfect. I am about 5'8" and have the stock seat. My legs were fully extended and just as comfortable as my current unsafe bad habit. Ya, I'm sure some of you might dispute it being a bad habit, but certainly not designed for the way I use it, and it does take some effort to get my legs up and off when necessary. My question is, would floor board extensions give me more room to rest my heels? If so, how much? Right now I have to really be aware of them slipping off the little bit of space that's left just under/outside of the controls. I think a little extra room would be ideal for us somewhat shorter riders. I always wear my thick-heeled riding boots which doesn't help the situation. What do you Deluxe people think?

I put cheapo highway pegs on my guard. I'm short so my heel rests on the board and the ball of my foot goes on the peg. It's solid and very comfy.

Why not just put some footpegs on. I have the HD360s on my Heritage. I originally put the moustache engine guard on thinking it would double as a footrest but it didn't get much use.

The Harleygoodies floorboard extensions will move your boards out about 3/4". They made a big difference in comfort for me. Offered to put them on the wife's Deluxe but she finds her stock boards to be good where they're at.

I also put my feet on top of my engine guard. My guard is powder coated black, so I wrapped the top with a six in piece of leather to prevent scratches. I don't use it that often but when I lift my legs up that high it tends to bring relief to any back soreness I might have. I'm only 5'4" so highway pegs just don't work for me.

With the Floorboard Extensions mounted you would be able to rest your heel on the floorboards and the tips of your boots on the highway pegs.

I have them on my Heritage and appreciate the extra room just so I can change foot positions when I get tired.

They really do make a difference for long or short legs...

Good luck.
