Just curious I just bought a 2010 fatboy lo instead of a car for my daily transportation. How many out there also just uses there bike for there sole transportation? I've been getting a rash of crap from everybody telling me I'm nuts....but 45 mpg and cheap insurance tells me not so.....
+1 on that. I chose the bike over a new truck... Its my every day transportation now. I got the same heat from everyone "What about the rain?" or "What about winter?". Eh whatever, I have ridden in plenty of rain storms in mid December. That was on a 800 Vulcan without a windshield - on the HIGHWAY! I'll survive, and so will you.
I have to point out that I live in Southern California....
But I also ride my FBL everyday to work. I put a small tbag on the back to be my trunk and it works perfectly. I'm spending about $40 a month on gas now instead of close to $250 to fill my Expedition.
However on the 10 days a year that it rains...I do take my truck to work.
used to do the same...there was a period in time when i would scrape ice off my saddle in the morning while others would scrape it off their windshields to go to work.
28,000 since 2008 on a fatboy. My daily transportation, no windshield. They wish they had one for daily transportation. As for the Expedition i have one also, just wish the harley had Airconditioned seats for the summer...its getting smokin hot here in central arkansas.
I retired in March of this year. Been using my bike as pretty much a daily driver since then. I've put 800 miles on my Jeep Wrangler and about 3000 on my bike since then. Heading out to the Ohio Valley area from Charlotte next week for my 45th class reunion. Looking forward to that trip plus some go rides while I'm up there. I'll have 10,000 miles on this bike before one year of ownership.
I ride mine everyday. Last year not so much due to injuries. Not bike related. But I average 100 miles a day m to f. Had it for 25 months have 12k on it. In PA. Did 8 k the first year.ast summer only 2k and put 2 k on it in the last month. My wrangler gets 15mpg. Bike averages 42. Not a hard choice when ya turn 100+ a day.
