The only experience I have with one is that I have one sitting here in my house that I've had since Feb. and haven't installed yet.

I have installed a couple of them, very basic stuff, hardest part for me was installing the new seals. I ended up using a piece of exhaust tubing over the top of the fork tubes to tap the seals in worked great. I might suggest getting a repair manual if you are not sure of the procedure, don't try to remove the old seals with a screw driver or something, just remove the bolt in the lower leg and pull the fork tube it will pull the seal out itself. Torque to spec and be sure to seal the threads on the lower bolt. Damn the torpedoes full speed ahead, after you do it you will wonder why the sealership wants so much to do it.

I recently lowered my front end using the Burly kit.
To tap the new seal in place, I place the old seal over it and tapped into place carefully.
Its kind of tedious, cause you have to remove the front wheel, caliper and fender.
Dealing with the fork itself is easy.
The screw located at the bottom of the leg holds the dampner in position, it takes a 6mm allen, you will need a long one for the left leg.
The caliper bolts are metric too.
pro1955 was right about extracting the tube from the lower leg. once you remove the clip which holds the seal, use a slide hammer type action by pulling the tube out and pushing it in, it will come out in a few tries.

The Burly kit used a rebound spring in conjuction with the stock rebound spring over the dampner.
And of course it had shorter fork springs as well.
I got a 2 inch drop out of mine. I have an FXST standard front end which is slightly different internally than your Deluxe.

Goodluck, and refill with the Screamin Eagle fork oil. The service manual has a good schematic.
