I am about to pull the trigger on the Heartland kit. After a year or so of research, it's really the only choice as all the other choices out there- Roland Sands, RWD, etc, require large amounts of modification/fabrication. This adds to whatever $ you'd have saved by paying less for the kit. The RSD kit especially is misleading. The company makes great stuff, but if you take the time to actually talk to the company, they'll tell you that there's more involved than just buying the Tracker fender-aside from having to invert the new smaller battery and moving the ECM... you also have to buy theiir springer seat set up... and their tank... get it? Same with the PM Phatail kit- can't just buy the fender.
So the upshot is that the Heartland kit is really the only way to go. As far as signals and licence plate holders... there ARE other cheaper choices out there. For instance, I picked up the Kuryakyn mini-bullets (red and orange), steel wooled them and rattle-canned one set flat black ($100). And I am picking up a Kuryakyn lighted LP holder ($139). And I'm doing this over time... saving my $. Patience really is a virtue.
...problems is when focus is lost,, and i spent the $ on other shtuff before reaching the goal...
Patience really is a virtue
...agree, but ain't easy
lazer lights would be my turn sigs...i like heartland's folding plate holder...ok, bak to reality...good your are getting things sorted out...
they should come with the heartland kit from factory...but then again, some peeps would prefer the bobtail...maybe hd is listening and bring the nt back with the kit
I took a fatboy fender and chopped it myself. $100 for the fender, modified it myself, $200 to get it painted. He will want to get a 2" lowering kit to make it look right though, thats about $40. Lot cheaper for the same style in the end. Let me know if he has questions
Rowdy that fender looks good. I'm really diggin that. I may be looking into doing that.
Listen, I've done a LOT of research and Heartland charges what they do for a reason- their stuff is the best-designed, best made of this type of stuff on the market- bottom line. They know it and charge accordingly.
