Got the Austone mounted on the Deluxe today!!!!! Only issue with rubbing was the bracket that goes around the back of the tire and connects the left saddlebag bracket to the right side. Modified it no problem, clearance on the bike is practically the same as the Metzler. Gonna play with tire pressure and find what suits me and ride!!!
Thanks to everyone here for all the help!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly, not that I could tell. Now it was just a cheap S-11 Bridgestone Spitfire: good traction, great in rain, but short life. One minor flaw was a tendency to sort of lock into a line under 3mph when stopping if you had the front brake on. Release the brake and it steers freely. I don't use fronts under 12 mph anyway.
I had to go cheap again, but this time went by the great reviews and put a Shinko 777 up front, using a front tire. Man, this thing is awesome! No tracking whatsoever on any surface, rock solid up to 105mph, and corners to beat all - including now, after I put a 2 over front end on her; lean angles are close to a Sportster now. I have NO chicken strip on it at all.
$83 to my door, best front tire I've ever run. Hope it lasts, but if not, it's cheap enuff to get another. Oh, from the Motorcycle Superstore online. Looks cool as heck too! For you, it comes also in whitewall. Did you have to go blackwall with the Austone?
The Austone only comes in blackwall, but I was runnin them anyway in the Metzler. I like them on my bike but couldn't see payin another $30 bucks or so for the white sidewall!
